Sir - Tom Edwards' article on Worcester congestion struck a real chord with me, having taken 57 minutes to travel from St John's Health Centre to Diglis late Monday afternoon and roughly the same time after the alleged rush hour the following morning.

Councillor Gregson certainly states the obvious and all of us who have lived here over the last 20 years know how appalling the traffic congestion is and has been made worse by just about every decision that the council has made.

Far too many traffic lights where they were not needed and at key spots like the Powick and Ketch roundabouts, no traffic lights where they are needed.

The synchronisation of the traffic lights in the City Walls/Sidbury junction is appalling and forces traffic to back up beyond Crowngate, together with the poor layout of the Cathedral roundabout, where once a bus stops, it brings everything to a standstill!

The location of the Asda store has seriously added to congestion and the proposed Waitrose store means that many travellers will want to avoid London Road like The Plague and thus probably nullifying any potential benefit for the changes to the Ketch roundabout.

The only thing we can look forward to is ever increasing congestion and a council that makes things worse with every decision it makes

Stuart Leng
