Sir - Fernhill Heath's one and only "proper" pub is going to be replaced by a Spar, which will more than likely also destroy the village stores opposite.

This together with the demise of The Bull in four years time - widely known in the village that Tesco will be creating an "Express" store on that site when the lease is up.

That leaves The White Hart as the only pub in the village and basically it is an eatery - apart from a few stools around the bar there is nowhere to sit and just have a pint without taking up the food tables.

Nowhere decent for the 18 - 60yr olds to go and have a drink and socialise, watch the sport etc.

Why are villages being destroyed by supermarket chains? Within easy distance is Sainsbury's, Lidl and Tesco.

Why do we need two more (Spar and Tesco Express) The two village stores are unlikely to compete against the big boys and will probably close.

JUST WRONG!
