SIR - Concerning your article on the bombing in St Johns on October 5, 1946.

I was three years old at the time and although it was aimed at the industrial factories it did extensive damage to the houses in Happyland North and the surrounding area.

I was the youngest casualty at the time, was injured in the blast causing me to lose my left eye.

I spent a long time in the old Worcester hospital and thanks to the expertise of an American surgeon I retained the sight of my right eye.

I have enjoyed a wonderful life am now 78 years of age married for 58 years have a large family including two daughters, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

How I would like to say, if a wish could be possible, to say thank you to that wonderful American.
