SIR - I find myself agreeing with Robin Walker’s assessment of the recent parliamentary by-election results (Worcester News, 11th October).

There really is no such thing as a ‘safe seat’ anymore.

The inroads that UKIP is making across the political spectrum suggest we have yet to peak as a political force.

The political landscape in this country is changing for the better, and Clacton was just the start.

Aside from the collapse in support for the coalition parties in both by-election constituencies, the results were significant also for the poor performance of Labour.

For a party aspiring to be the next party of government, to lose so heavily in Clacton and to cling on in Heywood and Middleton was sub-par. It is evident that Labour’s toxic legacy from their last term in government has not been forgotten.

Nor has their leadership proved inspirational in terms of policy and personality.

The latest Tory mantra is ‘Vote UKIP, get Labour’. Clacton proved that when you vote UKIP, you get UKIP.

UKIP Worcester will be fighting for both local and parliamentary representation next year, and the chances of success grow by the week.
