SIR - When I became an OAP (as they were referred to in 1998) I was gutted to learn that because I was ten years older than my husband I did not get any pension.
At that time my husband was very ill, later he became terminal.
He died at the age of 60 having worked from the age of 15.
During those ten years that I went without my pension I did write to Peter Luff but got no reply.
I was 70 when my husband died where did all that money of ten years pension go?
I had £21 per week carers' allowance for two years.
