Councillor Bayliss has noisily denied that the parks are for sale.
But in St John's, the city council is hatching plans to sell off Sanctuary Park, the land behind the Cemetery, off Hopton St and Buck St.
It's not very well-known outside the local area and has been starved of proper maintenance, but it's very well used and is zoned for 'green space' in the Local Plan, the same as Cripplegate Park and Perdiswell.
Now the Council is apparently negotiating to sell it to a developer for 30 houses.
They are trying to amend the South Worcs Dev Plan to have it for housing, despite local objections. Not only are the present council pushing ahead with a misguided doctrinal privatisation of an excellent council service, but they do look to be selling off what open space they can.
