Sir - So Grant Shapps, the Tory Party Chairman, has claimed that they would not be producing any negative advertising this election. What a joke.

I looked on the Tory website and amazingly they sent me details of their election literature. I’ve never seen such unintelligent, negative tripe in my life.

Now we hear that the Tories, with their £30 million plus election budget, mainly from super-rich donors, of which many do not pay tax in this country (it just shows who the Tories represent), are buying up hundreds of large poster sites across the country and are now boasting that the contents of these posters will be negative.

So why negative? Political commentators state that this is a sign of anxiety and insecurity in a party; they are frightened of their past record and are fearful of not winning. They know the public are onto them so they try tactics of frightening people.

I also tend to see this negativity as a means of concealing from the public their true extremist agenda should they get into power. After all promises they make cannot be believed. Based on the last election they put policies in place that had not been revealed at the election, such as the Health and Social Care Act, regarded as “not fit for purpose” by the King’s Fund.

As the Chief Executive of the King’s Fund stated: “Historians will not be kind in their assessment of the Coalitions governments record on NHS reforms”. He continues: “Nobody starting with a blank sheet of paper would end up creating anything like this”.

So perhaps the Tories should apologise to the British public for the mess they caused to the NHS. Remember no one ever voted for this. So regarding any future promises from the Tories, or what we suspect they may be hiding, then be aware, be very aware.
