Sir - I have arthritis & recently became partially sighted, so I am limited to walking on level even surfaces. Many of the local Commons are inaccessible to me now.
I can no longer go on the Hills because of the difficulty of the steep gradients & rough condition of the approach paths. So I would welcome a cable car service to Worcester Beacon so I could walk the ridgeline & enjoy Hills again.
I also care passionately about wildlife & there is a lot to see up there. Having carried out many Landscape & Visual Impact Assessments in my career, I believe the scheme will only have a limited impact over a small area, which incidentally is the area where there is the least flora & fauna value. I recently went to Prague where they have a funicular & the impact is minimal.
Some of the income from the project could be used to support the Conservators in their important work. Such a scheme could be of benefit to a wide range of local interests so I think we should support the project & ensure there are benefits to wildlife as well as people.
