Sir - Having read your item on 19th February concerning improvements to the Whittington roundabout, I feel the council have missed the point.
I was hit at 30 mph while stationary on the slip road last year, because a van driver was looking in the opposite direction to see what was coming round the island.
This is the design fault; its the angle of the slip - you have to look behind you over your right shoulder to see the oncoming traffic, and painting the road yellow wont help in the slightest!
No wonder this junction is so dangerous with planning like this.
I passed the same roundabout a couple of hours after my collision and there were two badly damaged vehicles being lifted off the carriageway at the same place.
Its a death-trap; the slip road needs to be removed and the roundabout needs to be made into a conventional junction. Either that, or instal lights.
