SIR, Re: Worcester City FC New Stadium
I cannot allow the letter from Julian Marshall (Letters Page, Worcester News, February 23) to go unanswered, as he claims to act on behalf of an organisation calling itself "Project Perdiswell Park". He has either knowingly (in an effort to boost the status of his organisation) or unknowingly, invested a new status for Perdiswell as, based on the information of the City Council's own website, the parks in Worcester are:- Cripplegate Park, Diglis Playing Fields; Fort Royal and Commandery Gardens; Gheluvelt Park; King George V Playing Fields; Riverside Parks; Westbury Street Community Gardens and Worcester Woods Country Park.
Perdiswell therefore does not have the "park" status that Mr Marshall claims and he, and his organisation, are therefore out of order using this title. Perdiswell was from 1938-1953 a municipal aerodrome and afterwards was used for football pitches and latterly golf. As I have said previously if you look at the City council's own maps all the land north of Bilford Road is sports-orientated.
Mr Marshall is also sadly misinformed about ground sharing. Primacy of tenure is an issue with both the rugby and football clubs.
