Sir- For some years now, I have been researching my family history, especially the works of my ancestor, the sculptor William Forsyth.

William was born in Scotland but following marriage to his first wife in Upton on Severn, he moved to Worcester, setting up his workshop in the Tything. In 1860 he married my great great grandmother, Lucy Rushton, at St George's RC Church, and remained in Worcester for the rest of his long and productive life.

I am writing to draw attention to the fact that 2015 is the 100th anniversary of William Forsyth's death, and readers may be interested to know just how much of his work is still to be seen in and around the city of Worcester, including The Hop Pickers, the carvings on the Pitchcroft Gates and the decorative work on Lloyd's Bank! Many churches in the area have examples of his work, as do a number of large houses such as Davenham Court, Malvern, built for the Perrins family.

A web site has been set up http://www.theforsythbrothers.com/ documenting William Forsyth's work. I hope this will raise the profile of a man who contributed much to environment of your lovely city.
