Sir - Growing up in St Johns in the 60s our Geography teachers taught us 'Worcester has congestion problems because of its narrow roads and single narrow bridge'.
In the 90s we awaited the arrival of a lovely new bridge and, guess what, another very narrow single-lane bridge to create even more congestion further down the river.
Having learned nothing from history the Council are now entrusting themselves with £11 billion of tax-payers money to build a white elephant 'Sky Walkway'.
Councillors should come back to Planet Earth, stop indulging themselves, and remember they are supposed to be working for the paying locals of Worcester, not the tourists or the influx of students.
£11 billion could buy a multi-storey car park at the hospital, or thousands of home-care visits and nursery places. And how much have they spent already researching it?
And Councillors - if you go ahead - don't have your PR shots taken on the walkway itself. History tells us, a narrow bridge is a vulnerable place. When the invaders attack from either side it's a long drop down into the water. Be afraid. Be very afraid!
Mrs Sue Clarke
Worcester.
