SIR, So, Worcester is to have its' very own "Skybridge" at the cost of £12.5m!!! Forgive me for not being excited by this news.

In fact I have yet to meet any residents who actually think that it is a good idea. Not that that appears to make any difference! Will this monstrosity mean that the Sabrina Bridge will become virtually redundant?

Worcester is an ancient city, not an advert for "The Jetsons", and surely £12.5m could be put to better use? Maybe it could be used to improve the car parking facilities at the hospital, perhaps by building a multi storey car park? Or possibly to build a halt in St John's, which would be useful during flooding and also allow access to Malvern and Hereford by train without first having to go into the city centre.

Speaking of Hereford, I hope that they are enjoying their rural unspoilt country before they too are inflicted with a new purpose built university. Lucky them I hear you cry! Because, yes, you have guessed it, the "Skybridge" is heavily tied in with our own dear university.

I hope that the students will enjoy the lovely views from their bridge over what is left of our once beautiful city, always assuming they will be able to see through all the greenery that is to be planted or even notice when they appear to be permanently staring at a mobile phone....
