SIR - I am truly very surprised that Sir Terry Wogan was paid and accepted £9,065 for a seven hour charity role as the presenter for Children In Need in 2005 - a fund-raising extravaganza.
The BBC said the fee had been in place since 1980 when he first presented Children in Need and it had never been negotiated.
Sir Terry went on to say it was a "nominal sum". Where does this man live - in cloud cuckoo land?
He also says he would be "quite happy to do it for nothing" as most other people do.
Well, he could always donate the money to a good cause, say, Children in Need?
