SIR - My husband and I were a little sad to read the letter by Martin Coombs opposing the proposed site for Worcester City's new ground.

Although we are not football fans we live just a few minutes away from Perdiswell. Our two sons played for local teams on this ground which housed many pitches.

Before the games started the lads would have to go round with buckets to pick the dog mess up before they could kick off.

With all the evil and wicked things going on around the world folk should thank their lucky stars that to complain about something so petty opposing a pitch to play football on is really very sad. It's on the outskirts of the city, a game played once every two weeks on a Saturday at 3pm with the very rare mid-week game occasionally played.

The game lasts 90 minutes, does not affect anyone going to and coming home from work, there's no children at school on a Saturday so whatever is the problem.

I believe those complaining are mainly dog owners who will have to find pastures new for their dogs to foul.

Welcome home City.
