Sior - Although there were other newsworthy events on this day, it should have been acknowledged that the VE Day commemoration ceremony was also a very important date in our country's history.

We went to the Guildhall today and were dismayed that the occasion was so poorly attended. Only a very small group including the Mayor, Mr Robin Walker and two ex-military gentlemen were there.

That Worcester should not have seen fit to commemorate such an important moment in history, by inviting, say, the British Legion, serving military representatives, etc, on this day especially, is quite shameful.

I often feel disappointed in Worcester Council at its lack of civic pride in not effectively promoting events that may resonate with local people, and to bringing such events to public notice. This event was obviously NOT promoted or advertised, as I am sure there would have been more people in attendance.

Despite what the Council itself may think, there IS interest in Worcester's history, and we are being let down by those in the Council who should be expected to co-ordinate and advertise such an important event, and yet do not.

Can we expect better in the future? This moment has passed, and the opportunity lost forever. I am very disappointed in Worcester City Council and those members who should be at the forefront of promotion of the City's pride and history.

Furthermore, I have just watched the commemorations of VE Day across the country, and this makes me feel even more ashamed of Worcester Council's lack of proper respect with its absence of celebration of such an anniversary
