SIR - Although definitely not a UKIP supporter, I sympathise with Nigel Farage in one aspect - that the media establishment, especially the BBC, have tried to stitch him up. Unfairly excluding him from Question Time and putting his name in the lazy headline 'Electoral fraud probe in Farage seat' (when nothing had actually happened) are not only examples of generally unjust treatment but are counter-productive. They make him a martyr and only reinforce his anti-establishment credentials.

Farage and UKIP's weakness is that he puts off as many, and perhaps more, people as whose support he attracts and makes the party look like a one man band. UKIP was founded to get Britain out of the EU, and by doing so to restore our national sovereignty, democracy and sense of self-respect. UKIP members must ask themselves which is more important - our country's democracy or the interests of one man.
