SIR – ‘Perdiswell picture is a piece of propaganda’ said Neil Humphries in his letter. I think the picture shows a good and fair angle of a lovely spot to have Worcester City football ground. I think Mr Humphries has a thing about cars. As we already know the city is full of cars blocking every road. I bet he owns a car too, as we all do. Propaganda? I don’t think he knows the meaning of the word.
As a child in the 50s I played on the very ground he is moaning about. There were air raid shelters, a big tip and a big stink everywhere. Wonder what he would have thought of that. Now it’s much more a pleasant space for people. Yes there are a lot of cars and always will be. Why would the artist want to show the tip over the road, may I add that most people use.
I myself said in my last letter there are a few people who don’t want a football stadium anyway. Some people just don’t like football.
Lighten up Mr Humphries and get something else to moan about.

My eight reasons for wanting out of the EU
SIR – Here is my list for leaving the EU.
1. Abolish the human rights act, to be replaced by our own bill of rights,
2. Abolish the CAP and give our farmers a free hand,
3. Abolish the EU fisheries act and give a free hand back to our Fisheries,
4. Abolish tax on Female Sanitaryware, it should never have been VAT rated nor accepted by this country, lately reported there is a threat to force this country to put VAT on food (fancy having to pay tax to eat!)
5. Tax children’s wear if we stay in,
6. Reintroduce the Imperial weights and measures,
7. Get back control of our borders, deport all known illegal and undesirable foreigners which includes Hamza’s criminal Moroccan daughter in law, even if she has a son born here, and from whatever country other persons have come from which includes guilty and convicted persons,
8. Take back our own justice laws from the EU court of justice which still interferes with our justice rulings.
Please bear in mind that these are only a few of the reasons known to many millions of our electorate why we should leave the EU, and the billions of money that can and should be saved and made available for all the benefits that we the British people are entitled to, instead of being squandered and wasted by the unelected EU bureaucrats who have so far refused to publish an annual financial report of that they have wasted our money on.

Extra running lane on M5 is sheer madness
SIR – Do readers of Worcester News realise the extremely dangerous situation being built into the M5 from Worcester to Bromsgrove? An extra running lane is being built instead of the existing hard shoulder.
This has been done before, but previous examples have only been used temporarily in heavy traffic situations (where traffic is running slowly) and with overhead gantries at regular intervals controlling the use of these lanes and a speed limit being enforced. This means that if someone is unfortunate to break down in the inner lane access to this lane can be cancelled via the overhead gantry and the car is in a normal hard shoulder situation and relatively safe.
On the M5 the new running lane is a permanent fixture. This means that if you break down it will be in a 70mph live lane. One in six of total road deaths occur on normal motorways with hard shoulders. They are dangerous places already. The new situation is sheer madness.
The idiots that designed this system say there are refuges that a broken down motorist can pull into but these are 1.5 miles apart. Oh yes? With an engine that has stopped? How are the emergency services going to get to the scene of an accident with all four lanes of traffic at a standstill?

Does anyone have faith in PM’s deal with EU?
SIR – Bad news for David Cameron – as many as 20 Government ministers could campaign to leave the EU.
The so called “rebel alliance” is finally getting its act together, yet let it come as no major surprise.
Did anyone seriously believe Mr Cameron got “us” a good deal from Brussels? And that was before the EU watered it down yet further.
No one should pretend any more, it will do nothing, achieve nothing and change nothing for Britain.
Mr Cameron cannot and will not change anything, the only way to fix it is to vote out and leave. The EU needs us far more than we need it.

Council tax hike could have been prevented
SIR – In response to Cllr Chris Mitchell’s letter (Worcester News, February 11) – he had nothing to say about the county council’s council tax increase, which is far greater than the city council tax increase that the previous administration proposed and which the Conservatives will propose.
He had nothing to say about the huge cuts in central funding that are forcing local councils to increase council tax. Soon there will be no central funding. The government is cutting tax to corporations and high earners, then forcing local tax payers to pick up the bill.
If Councillor Mitchell and many other councillors across the country had consistently campaigned against the cuts over the past six years, we might not be in a situation where council tax has to be increased.
