SIR – In the letter by Cllr Ken Pollock (cabinet member for skills and infrastructure, Worcester County Council) in the Worcester News, August 11, he outlines his distress at criticism of the Southern Link Road. In this letter, he acknowledges that Junction 6 of the M5, the next junction up the M5, is extremely congested at peak times (his words).

He is quite correct in that statement. Could I ask then, why we are having the Worcester Six business park, expected to produce 5,000 jobs, sited right next to Junction 6? We are then potentially going to add a huge increase in the congestion at this junction.Did not the existing congestion form part of the planning decision or is it just another example of the bungling by our local politicians and officials that has turned this area into a traffic nightmare?

In the same edition of Worcester News, Worcester City Council is calling for ideas to increase tourism to the city. Renewing everybody that has an input into traffic management in the county and local councils wouldn’t be a bad start
