The complacent boasting about secret negotiations towards a good Brexit by the government sounds increasingly unbelievable. Successive governments have for years failed to meet some of the basic needs of the people as revealed by daily reports in the Worcester News and other media. Health and social care seem on the verge of collapse. Mental health services have virtually disappeared. Food banks pick up the pieces after an inefficient and unresponsive social security department. The housing and homelessness problem seems insoluble. Public transport is so inadequate that the most simple bus or train journey is unreliable. How the government hopes to sort out the massive complexity of Brexit without there being many losers, probably the poorest people in the community as usual, is beyond my understanding.
