SIR - In the letter What happened to NHS Dental Care? (Worcester News, July 11) from Mr Lever, I was concerned to read about the expenditure of £2,500 on NHS dental treatment for a young relative of his. Our dental public health consultant contacted the particular person and I understand the cost he mentioned in his letter referred to dental treatment for an under 18- year-old in London.
Young people under 18 years of age receive free dental treatment on the NHS. Perhaps this was a case of the child falling outside the NHS criteria or it was treatment from a private dentist. If anyone has queries about the costs of NHS dental treatment in Worcestershire, they should get in touch with us.
