SIR - I write regarding the article concerning the city council's clamp down on street car dealers (Worcester News, September 4).
There are several things that the council needs to sort out before it worres about car dealers who, in my opinion, are not inconveniencing anyone as there is very little traffic down Norton Road.
If the council wants to see obstruction, try driving a fire engine down Deer Avenue, St Peter's, or try going down the footpaths in a wheelchair or pushing a baby in a buggy. You need to go in the road most of the way with various vehicles parked all over the footpath.
Coming out of the end of Deer Avenue is hair-raising, with vehicles parked both sides on some occasions.
It's time the city climbed aboard the brain-dead planners and money- hungry developers whose only interest seems to be to cram as many houses as they can into the smallest space.
They should be made to provide lay-by type parking down all estate roads or bigger off road parking to all properties as part of their planning approvals.
To sum up, leave the poor bloke alone trying to make a few bob out of his cars.
There are a lot more important problems to deal with concerning cars on our estate. Maybe we will have to wait until we have a disaster and the services won't be able to get through before somebody wakes up.
ALAN BISHOP, Deer Avenue, Worcester.
