SIR - Just what is the matter with your correspondent, Mr Margrett?

Does he never respond to facts? I know that when, on occasions, I have written to your worthy journal, I have presented pure facts which over the years he has simply dismissed.

When I was at school, I was taught that my arguments had to be based on facts or otherwise they were mere prejudice and would be rightly ignored by any reader.

I was taught that if an opponent presented a factual argument, it was up to me to supply a better factual argument.

Mr Margrett's latest rejection of facts by Stanley Parr on post offices closing because of EU regulation is beyond credence.

I simply reject any argument which is not properly made - even if I would tend to agree with the idea.

Opinions without factual justification, Mr Margrett, only attract bigots.

LES ARNOTT, Sheffield.
