SIR – I am one of the regular visitors to your wonderful city who is able to use a concessionary pass on your bus services.

The economy must surely benefit from people like me as I eat in your restaurants and buy goods in your shops. Obviously, more facilities in my area are the losers.

It was pointed out to the Government that the scheme would cause serious problems for some authorities.

As another writer has already said, the allocations were made by the Government of which Mike Foster is a part. His extravagant terms, if correctly quoted, seem totally out of place at this present time.

When the world’s banking system has been brought to its knees by doubtful practices and probably worse, the opprobrium heaped on neighbouring councils which are in surplus seems to me inappropriate.
