SIR – I read with interest J C Butterfield’s letter in which he drew attention to Mike Foster MP’s “pointless questionnaire”, which asked the reader whether they thought Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are “going the right way”.

I received an e-mail from Gordon Brown last week, in which he said that New Labour “has always been about the many and not the few”. I can’t understand how that statement can be true when billions of pounds are spent bailing out banks and on illegal wars carried out on behalf of big businesses.

The only right way for Brown, Darling, Straw, Blair, Foster and co is in the direction of the Hague in the Netherlands, where they ought to be put on trial for war crimes.
