SIR – Once again the people of Pershore and district have been more then generous in their response to the Poppy Appeal. This year they have donated £13,347.88 which is the most this branch of the Royal British Legion has ever received. We are most grateful for their continuing support.
May I thank the branch members who participated, the women’s section, the house-to-house collectors, schools, supermarkets, shops, banks and public houses for their support. My thanks also to the abbey congregation and those who made donations for wreaths and participated in the ceremony at the war memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
It is most gratifying to know that in these very troublesome times, the meaning of the poppy has not been forgotten.
PHILIP CUMMINS,
Poppy appeal organiser, Pershore.
