SIR – First we have Mark Avery of the RSPB asking people who want to see birds to leave them in peace because of the bad weather to increase their chance of survival so that those who want to shoot them for pleasure on RSPB land will have enough to kill.

Then we have Patrick Faulkener from the Deer Initiative saying people who object to deer killing have Bambi syndrome.

Both of these people have their salaries paid for by the public and they should reflect the wishes of their members or taxpayers as a whole, not a minority interest.

Earlier in the week we had a totally biased report extolling the virtues of foxhunting. Has the paper been taken over by the hunting-shooting fraternity or have reporters developed a bloodlust and are they wishing for a return to the Dark Ages?
