Fox enjoyed the bones I threw out

SIR – 1.40am, April 27. I heard a noise, looked down from my balcony and saw a large fox crunching some chicken bones I had thrown down earlier.

The fox looked me in the eyes, could sense I was no threat and calmly carried on crunching the bones.

GEORGE COWLEY,

Worcester.

Tut tut. I expect the naysayers will now bombard poor Socrates with complaints that he is encouraging pests with his garbage.

it is abit double standards when a women appeared in the paper only recently saying she couldnt no longer feed her garden birds because health and safety had said she was creating a rodent problem, you cant have one rule for one and another for someone else can you!?

Well, how about if the one rule is "If there is a rodent problem, stop leaving food out." That's not inconsistent.

good rule that bob, however there wasnt a rodent problem she was told to stop feeding the birds for fear of causing one, so i think mr cowley hurling bones from his window does smack of double standards

I'm sure the powers-that-be at Worcester Community Housing, in whose property George lives, will be most interested in his revelations of waste disposal.

In all honesty the only reason i took dislike to this letter, was that i find it extremely annoying when chicken bones are discarded with no regard, because its very easy for a dog to eat them, the consequence being they get lodged in the dogs intestine and require surgically removing. Hence my annoyance, being a dog owner, at this irresponsible behaviour! Im sure if it was a teenager that had been caught throwing his/her take away meal on the ground the response would have differed greatly.

This is very serous indeed .I was always under the impression that people like Cowley were tied down in their beds at night not allowed to roam around at all hours. And not allowed to deposit their waist out of their apartment onto who ever is passing by.

Totally inconsiderate, a health and vermin risk and the man should know better!

This is 2009 - not 1609, when this sort of behaviour was commonplace.

Not only that, surely this is an open admission of depositing litter?

Or was he joking? I fear not!

Doesn't poor old George realise that he could fall foul of his beloved Nu-Labour's litter police.
