SIR – Cliff Richard, real name (Harry Webb), has been a great singer and entertainer. But he is wrong saying he was the first British rock and roll singer. The Bermondsey boy Tommy Steele, real name Tommy Hicks, was first appearing at Hippodromes with hit records Rock With The Cavemen and Rebel Rock in 1956/57.

Cliff only exploded on the scene in August 1958 with his first hit Move It. Any Cliff fans out there inform him he was second not first. Finally, the greatest rock and roll music of all time was by Bill Hayley and the Comets.
