SIR – Mr Burgess once again strains to justify hunting, this time by describing it as an authentic sport.

I think not, Mr Burgess. It seems to me that sport is an activity in which consenting sides with an equally matched possibility of winning take part. This is clearly not so with hunting. I can see nothing to justify this gruesome behaviour although I am floundering when I consider that two of the most personable people I know practise and love it.
