Go online to keep cruelty in the past

SIR – As the opinion polls narrow, the Tories will be fighting for every vote in marginal constituencies like Worcester.

They will need to listen to the electorate. You can lobby the candidates at keepcrueltyhistory.com.

It is a great shame the Tories seem intent on wasting Commons time to reopen the debate on this cruel blood sport. The Green Party is big on animal welfare, campaigning to curb factory farming, would ban live animal exports and supports the ban on fox hunting with dogs.

Louis Stephen
Green Party parliamentary candidate

These are purely peripheral issues!

Where do you stand on leaving the EU and getting the economy right?
Or the loss of our manufacturing and all the immigration problems - and they are problems, ask anybody!

Stan, I think Louis' point is that we shouldn't be wasting parliamentary time on reopening the hunting debate, when we should be looking at more pressing matters such as the economy.
Plus, if you want to know where he stands on these other issues, check out his website and the Worcester Green Party website.plus-on

Matthew - We all know that a candidate from the Green Party is going to have this view on Animal Welfare issues, fox hunting etc. There wasn't much point in bringing them up on here when he could have spoken about his stance on the more important and pressing issues that will influence people's voting decisions a lot more than whether or not he supports the ban on hunting with dogs.
.
It's all very well pointing to his website, but I think it would have been a better use of his time if he'd written about the more important issues in his letter in the first place.

Tulstar, fair point, but I just checked and Louis wrote to the Worcester News just 10 days ago (2nd March), in which he said: "The main priorities of the Green Party are jobs, protecting public services from cuts and protecting the NHS from privatisation."
With the election coming up I'm sure a lot of people will be looking at the websites of the various candidates to help them decide who to vote for.

I think this letter looks biased and petty and there are bigger issues he could concentrate on if he is serious about the election. He is not only wasting his time on this issue but trying to skew the figures of who supports this ban and who doesn't as there is no facility for people to say if they actually would like this issue revisited for a repeal. Also when I visited this website and clicked on "Know more" there was a fault with the website and a message to contact the administrator so it is faulty as well as petty and biased. Doesn't make you look too good Mr Stephen!

I see that it is biased, of couse it is ,its about a parties policies by a member of that same party, but i do not see any pettyness. Perhaps you just do not like the green party or you are a through and through conservative, in which case this letter is not aimed at you. If you are going to comment on bias please try to keep out of it yourself.

Fair enough, I didn't realise he'd written in previously - I thought this was his first attempt!

That's a shame I really wanted to vote green instead of one of the big three criminal classes! Oh well BNP it is then unless there is an independant standing in my ward.

Crowquill, surely spoiling your ballot paper is better than voting for the BNP. Why would the BNP get your vote?

No surely spoiling your ballot paper is better than voting Nu Liebor. At least the BNP would do something about immigration!

Gosh no one told me the British Mummy Bloggers were fielding candidates..........
........I'm with you chips if they get in I'm off!

Are the BNP standing a candidate in West Worcs? Anybody know?

They would be replacing Sir Michael Spicer.

From what I can gather, they would do two main things - attempt to sort out the immigration problem and also take us out of the EU.

That sounds like a good start, to me.

UKIP would politely tackle the EU (and probably lose) and will do nothing about the immigration. Not unless I have missed something. They need a leader, for starters - Nigel Farage is known, but has stepped down, I believe.
I am still currently undecided, but my vote won't go to any of the big three - or the Greens! They are not listening to "me" - or any of us!

BMP will just send us back a couple of decades and wipe clean all we have acheived. The main problems from joining the EU were caused by us not intergrating fully, if we could just accept that we're not a super power any more we would be much better off. I'd agree that somthing should be done about imigration, but i do not want to go back to the discrimination and distrust that filled the streets before and a while after we allowed imigration for work in the first place, which is where BMP will eneveitably lead us.

I have never read such rubbish on this particular forum. no wonder this Country is in such a mess, the Green Party say they are going to save us, if this is true why are they not already the Government.
I wrote to the B.N.P. telling them that if they really meant to pull out of the E.U. stop all immigration, give the rebate back to the people, with some of it going to the Pensioners, they would get in with a landslide, they did not bother to answer me, so can you tell me who the hell is going to save our Country, somebody tell me, so that I can vote for the first time in my life, in my 70 yrs.

Well, this contry is doomed then if people are going to just decide who to vote for by what they want to happen not what actualy needs to, AND completely ignore the past bad and good decions for adivise. Im not saying that the green party is the best, im just saying that people need to think about these things, and that if they did we would be much better off.
