another Home Secretary or grow up and face facts about the impossible task we have set our Home Office? One minute we are inviting the desperate dispossessed and disaffected billions of the Third World to come to Britain - and the next, we are demanding that policemen and immigration officials sort out the mess we have created by making Britain a honeypot for every criminal in the world.

Was the Home Secretary deceiving us about the deportation scandal, or was it more a case of us being brass monkeys and just not wanting to face up to the mess Britain's in?

We are not running a large empire now and Britain simply hasn't the resources to offer its existing citizens the standard of life we demand from our politicians, far less provide a welfare state for the rest of the world. No wonder politicians dare not tell the truth.
