SIR - Lisa Bonomini's letter of May 19 indicates that, in common with other minority groups, her animal rights groups are ignorant of the basic principles of a democratic society.
Every member of society can exercise his/her civil rights, but only in a way that has no adverse effect on the rights of any other person. An unknown number of animal rights activists are terrorists.
They have forced a guinea pig farmer to end his lawful business and have desecrated the grave of one of his family. They have released into the wild the mink from lawful fur farms. The rapidly increasing population of these most avaricious of predators has put at risk of extinction many of the wild species they use for food. This prevents the return of otters to many areas and is disturbing the balance of nature. Quite an achievement for "animal lovers!"
