SIR -- There has been a great deal of attention on the threat to the NHS from the current cash crisis and speculation on what impact cuts will have on patients and local services. One of the greatest threats is that the emphasis will return to waiting until people are seriously ill before treating them.
The most effective way to help people with chronic conditions such as diabetes is to support them early and effectively so that they can keep themselves healthy. People with diabetes across England are telling us about local services that are putting budget cuts ahead of care for people with diabetes. We want to hear from readers whether that is happening in their locality. You can write to us or e-mail us on peter.shorrick@diabetes.
