IR - It is such a pity that a mature councillor such as Geoff Williams should malign a fellow councillor, Mike Layland, for the amount of sheer hard work and time that he puts in while attending to the problems of his electors (Worcester News, June 2). I remember, as a past representative of St Stephen's and Warndon Villages, the many hours that I spent trying to answer the concerns of my constituents when they were upset by the wrongful sighting of the park-and-ride in Perdiswell, the O2 mast in Woodgreen Drive and the white elephant that was the unused youth shelter at Lyppard Grange - all of which were a waste of time and money and had the full support of his party. I believe this is sour grapes on Geoff's part over the possibility of future road-naming in the Faithful City. I would fully support a Mike Layland Street in Diglis but not a Geoff Williams Way in any area.
ROD STAINES,
Ex-councillor,
Worcester.
