SIR – Naturally we would like our bins emptied weekly but not at the cost of £1 million, putting community centres, the swimming baths and Guildhall at risk.
The real answer is a national one, much waste is caused by unnecessary plastic wrapping. Butter and margarine are a good example, as they used to be in paper. I think the manufacturers and retail trade have gone too far.
