SIR – Having just spent a few days in Hazel elective orthopaedic ward for a replacement hip operation I can confirm that the service I received from all the staff was superb.

The consultants opted to give me a spinal injection rather than a general anaesthetic and while this deadens the lower half of the body for surgery it leaves the upper half awake and with no after effects. I was walking on crutches on the third day.

Because I received such excellent service I wished to record my appreciation and enquired whether there was any customer satisfaction survey forms either on or offline.

Unfortunately it is left to individual departments to seek their own comments – either complaints or praise – from patients. I believe that the excellent treatment I received needs to be recognised. I found everyone involved was dedicated, caring professional, efficient and friendly. Please John Rostill, chief executive officer, can you devise a system for patients to record their comments in order to recognise what a good job is being done by all the staff at Worcester Royal Hospital?
