SIR - If Paul Saunders and his associates disagree with "the official or majority opinion" they are indeed "dissident" or "dissentient" according to my dictionary. (Letters, August 3).

The only opinion I have expressed on this issue is to urge people "to act in the best interests of the children".

I have also drawn attention to the demoralising effect delay and uncertainty can have. The educational needs of future generations are likely to be very different from those prevailing in 1934 when Christopher Whitehead School was opened and there is a need for all points of view to be considered.

JOHN HINTON,

Worcester.
