Animal abuse in all forms unacceptable

SIR – Once again Jon Burgess (Worcester News, February 22) has to malign anyone who tries to help fellow creatures with whom we share the earth.

I have been an animal rights campaigner for 40 years.

The only violence and threats I have seen in this time were against ourselves.

I have suffered verbal abuse by huntsmen and been threatened by farmers. All this on my own property!

The newspapers very seldom report the many animal rights campaigners who go to court on charges and are found not guilty.

Why can’t people understand that animal abuse in all forms is unacceptable in our modern society?

Totally agree Geraldine. If the hunt fraternity decide to read the last three letters published to the WN then they might finally realise that the vast majority of people are against the views of Jon Burgess and the like. And before anyone attacks you or me for contradicting ourselves about publicity – we are talking about reports that the WN choose to take on themselves and not the freedom of speech by anyone in the letters page.
