SIR - ARCOS is grateful to your readers for their generosity when they came to the Lancashire Fusiliers concert in Priory Park, Malvern, on Sunday, July 30. A magnificent £275
was raised during the interval.
Some members of the audience told us that they had come because they saw the concert mentioned in the Worcester News and several said that they came specifically to make contact with ARCOS, although we know that they will have enjoyed the marvellous music, too.
The money raised really makes a difference and enables ARCOS to provide information and advice about communication and swallowing problems free of charge. Most of us take speaking, eating and drinking for granted and yet any one of us may suffer an accident or illness that would make it impossible to enjoy those everyday activities in a normal way. ARCOS provides expert speech and language therapy, occupational therapy physiotherapy and special education teaching. These services are in short supply, or unavailable elsewhere.
More information about the way ARCOS works is available from the ARCOS Centre in Malvern
(01684 576795) and the website www.arcos.org.uk. We are working towards establishing a purpose- built centre to provide comprehensive therapy, training and practical support for children, adults, their relatives and other carers.
We look forward to welcoming more of your readers on September 2 at the fund-raising concert in St Edmund's Hall, Malvern. Tickets are available from the ARCOS Centre in Church Street, Malvern. Tel 01684 576795.
KAY COOMBES,
Director ARCOS
