SIR – For many years I travelled across town past the Royal Infirmary and watched its change to other uses.
The picture on the front depicting its future use as part of the university looked impressive. I like the piazza and view to the old buildings – not so impressed with the new, but I am just an old fuddy duddy.
I stopped travelling the route a couple of years ago and noticed today other projects, such as the development at the old fruit and veg market and of the golden library. However, what struck me was that the front of the infirmary development has stopped, stagnated over the last two years. It’s just piles of earth sprouting weeds. Is it going to be finished as depicted or has the university overstretched its budget?
