SIR – I am very disappointed to hear that once again the local councils have seen it fitting to ignore the proposed new Hindlip sports developement and to leave our city once again in the dark ages.

As a sports coach I have had many years of exprience in coaching across the county and found most of the facilities second-rate compared with other towns and cities that I have visited.

I have seen the plans for the new sports village and consider them to be a fantastic prospect for not just the city but the whole county.

It would draw people in from all over the country, giving the area real sporting kudos.

We live in a world where parents are constantly worried about children’s health and fitness and the growth of xBox kids.

Therefore, Ido hope they can look at this project as something of real value for generations to come and perhaps Worcester will become known for developing local sporting greats of the future like so many other cities seem capable of. At this moment I can’t think of one.

My opinion is that they are quite happy to fill our area with supermarkets and retail parks but nothing of any real value to the people who live in this boring city such as sport, art and culture. I urge the people of Worcester to get behind this project.
