SIR – Of course contributors to your website (worcesternews.co.uk) should be free to remain anonymous.
There are several understandable reasons why people would be unable to express their opinions if they were forced to give their real identity.
For example, employed people or members of some organisations may not always want to be seen to deviate from the company or party line.
I cannot understand why intelligent people such as Mr [David] Candler (Worcester News, June 23) bother to read the inane ramblings of the current crop of regulars who post on the site.
Surely anonymity would only be a problem if they said anything intellectually controversial?
Before I gave up reading it, the whole thing seemed to have become a ridiculous geriatric fan club for the Worcester News digital editor Mr [Murray] Kelso.
He has my sincere sympathy if he has to read that nonsense day after day.
Publish anonymously and be damned. Let’s have some life back in the website please.
