SIR – It looks like Lord Patten [BBC Trust chairman] is going to do some cutting of executives’ pay.
Another thing he could do is cut out the sports commentators who talk far too much. The BBC put on some super coverage of the tennis at Wimbledon – but it was spoiled by the so-called experts analysing each shot.
After all, people sitting in the centre court don’t have someone telling them what goes wrong, me thinks they talk too much – and there’s definitely no need for them.
So come on, Mr Patten, get rid of the talkers and the same thing for snooker and football. Kick them out.
