SIR – It was gratifying to read in the Worcester News that a rumour of visitors having to be charged to park their cars in the car park at the bottom of Waterworks Road has been quashed by the council.
It is interesting to recall that when houses were constructed on the site of the old Severn Trent treatment works in Lavender Road, there were plans then for access into that road instead of as now, Park Avenue.
Had that happened at least six off-street car spaces would have been lost for the park, causing more road congestion.
Luckily, objections to the planning application were upheld, but it just goes to show how public interest in such matters can do good.
