No, not all farmers welcome fox hunting

SIR – Every year we have to read reports in the Worcester News about the Boxing Day fox hunting meets.

I have written in anger about this before.

Your coverage sparks lengthy debates on either side of the argument via letters and online comments.

After being involved in such debates, the letters continue well into the late spring, or at least until the editor finally decides to draw a close to the subject.

There was an interesting article (Worcester News, January 4) about a convicted farmer who tried to stop illegal activities on his land (hare coursing and lamping) with force, which says it all in my eyes.

This sends out a message – if you physically stop someone who is indulging in illegal activities on your land; you (not they) will be judged. Where is the justice?

So much for all farmers welcoming hunting.

What a load of nonsense.

Perfectly correct tub-thumper, never a true word.
The trespassers were not involved in Fox Hunting they were poachers.
Please stop trying to twist the article into something that it wasn't.

The letter you were agreeing with is itself twisted.
It is a total distortion of the original item published on Jan 4th which was nothing to do with Fox Hunting. It was about Poachers, an altogether different subject.

But both poachers and fox hunters are indulging in illegal activities. That was the point of the letter. You are only allowed 200 words in a letter to the WN so they were trying to keep all aspects of illegal rural activities concise. It's not twisted at all.

Please tell me what the connection is between the action taken by Mr Nicholas Ford in the article referred to in the letter and Fox Hunting.
The article on Jan 4th does not even contain the words fox or hunt.
Simon McCullough is trying to stir up trouble for Hunts that are acting perfectly legally by attempting to connect them with illegal poaching.
I know that; you know that; so why do you try and pretend different.

The only trouble Simon McCullough has stirred up is you getting a little upset. I have no problem with what he said; and, judging by the lack of comments on this site, no one else has either.
