Are all these people snobs and buffoons?

SIR – I can not believe the arrogance of Councillor [Alan] Amos.

What gives him the right to call people “class-obsessed fools”, “snobs”, “country-set buffoons” and “upper class people”? Certainly being a councillor doesn’t.

The Worcestershire Hunt were out on their traditional Boxing Day meet in Droitwich.

They certainly weren’t out hunting as that is against the law, a fact he ought to know very well as it was his own political party and former Worcester MP Mike Foster’s Private Members’ Bill which banned hunting with dogs.

Coun Amos appears to have a massive chip on his shoulder, which he ought to seek medical help with!

I just have to wonder what he thinks of the people pictured in the Worcester News (December 27) along with the hundreds of others who turned out to watch the hunt move off?

Are they also fools, snobs, buffoons, or dare I say it upper class?

Some may even live in the wards that he represents, a fact that he would, of course, overlook on polling day, I suspect.

Even though I disagree with the comments made by Mr Amos about 'snobs' I would like to make a few points on what you say about the general public, Gary...
.
Firstly, most people who watch the hunt meets are probably unaware of the barbaric killings in which the hunts are trying to bring back. Whilst the general public are still digesting their christmas dinners under the Rose-tinted disillusion of festive jovialities, they are totally blinkered to the truth of human blood **** masked by the Santa Claus driven propaganda. It's something 'nice to do' on boxing day, somewhere nice to take the kids, an excuse to get out of the house whilst not worringing about going to work. Of course, ther are a few supporters there, those who know the truth but are ignorant to admit it in the name of tradition...
.
And that, Gary, is the real reason why hundreds gathered to watch the hunt meets. Some of them may be fools, but most of them are definitely not snobs, buffoons or upper class.

tub_thumper you obviously have never attended a Boxing Day Meet.
Whenever I have attended one it has attracted crowds of Hunt Supporters. Not crowds of people wanting something to do who have no idea what they are suppporting.
Whether you choose to believe it or not is up to you but the reason why thousands of people turn out every Boxing Day is because they support Hunting.

One point which I missed from the original letter. It was not Mike Foster's private members bill which banned hunting with hounds. That bill was unsuccessful.

On the contrary new kid! About 30% of the crowds at the droitwich hunt meet were children. Do children really have the capacity to have a life style choice without the aid of parental intervention? Most of the children I saw were more interested in the horses, hounds, Santa, brass bands and and mince pies. Most children are totally honest and I have asked if they enjoy what they see. They obviously say yes. But what would they say if they are told what actually happens to the fox once the hounds get hold of it?
.
Any article in this very paper from one 'supporter' stated “It’s a family tradition - we come for the pomp and
circumstance and we meet up with all our relatives.” (Worcester news - Wednesday 28th December 2011). What more can I say?
