SIR – I welcome Worcester City Council’s decision to help host a party to mark the arrival of the Olympic torch to the city (Worcester News, January 19).
While I appreciate the reservations of some, it’s not always the cost that is important it is the value.
As someone who has exercised all their adult life, I can only advocate the physical and mental benefits that sport can provide.
Not only will an event like this promote the feelgood factor for the city, it will hopefully motivate young and old alike to participate in sports and to celebrate our Olympic year.
