SIR – in your comment (Worcester News, May 8) you asked in your comment why so few people went to the polls at the recent local elections? In my opinion the system is too outdated.
When living in the Claines ward, I voted for Liz Smith and Sue Askins, not because they were Lib Dems but because I could always rely on them to try to sort out my problems (the sale of the water works by Severn Trent was a typical example).
Incidentally, I was extremely sorry to read that Sue Askins lost her seat as she was a first-rate councillor.
Now I live in the Arboretum ward where we have Joy Squires and her husband (both Labour) and once again I have found they both represent all constituents likewise. They have helped me several times.
I vote for the person who I feel will represent me the best, whatever their politics.
