SIR – When I was a police officer working in Birmingham, I became aware of a situation in which Pakistani men were picking up young white girls from a local children’s home.

There are of course paedophile groups occasionally uncovered, but the worrying aspect of the recently convicted Pakistani and Afghan paedophile gang is that they have clearly targeted young white girls.

If this were not a race thing, as strenuously and somewhat desperately asserted by those seeking to avoid a race row and by the Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchaester Police, why were none of the victims of these evil predators Asian or black?

Let’s face facts here. If this were a gang of white men whose victims were all black or Asian, or both, race would be very much at the centre of discussions, and Asian communities in particular would be agitating for government action.

When the victims of nonwhite gangs are consistently and exclusively white, I wonder why elements of our politically-correct society appear so desperate to deny any race motive?

Is this evidence of the misguided notion which appears to be pursued by Britain’s liberal elite that only men can be sexist and only white people can be racist?
